How to get Japanese Yen
Credit cards are not accepted for a broad range of transactions here. In addition, your ATM card will not be accepted at most machines in Japan. However, there is a Citibank ATM machine outside of customs at Narita Airport that will work. We encourage you to get yen at Narita Airport. You can also use your ATM card to get yen at Japanese Post Office ATM machines. There is a post office close to your hotel. It has ATM machines that are open from 7am thru 11pm Monday-Friday. Hours on weekends and national Holidays (e.g. Nov. 3-4) are 9am - 7pm.
Cell phones in Japan
Neither your cell phone nor your blackberry will work in Japan. If you wish you may rent a cellphone at Narita airport.
